It's February and my thoughts are focused around
my goals for the year. How have your New year's resolutions been
going? I like the advert in Boots the chemist which says something
along the lines of 'Change One Thing'. It's good advice as so often
we set too many goals and then wonder why we don't succeed.
Goals are a way of asking the Universe what we
desire. We are having conversations with the Universe constantly,
most often we focus on negative thoughts about what we don't want
in our lives. This exercise is about changing that.
Determine that the goal is believable
to you
You must feel that the goal can be realised. If you believe it is
impossible to achieve, you will never take the action necessary to
make the goal a reality.
To help you focus
First meditate then ask yourself what you truly desire in your life
this year. You might like to choose cards to help you. This is
your list. No one else's. If you want to be enlightened this year
then say so. If you want true love then ask for it.
just one caveat. Be prepared for life to change
and allow the answers to come to you and act on them. Receiving is
a very important part of asking. Two years ago my biggest goal was
to lose weight and I achieved it - I lost two stone - but first I
had to give up my judgments on joining a slimming club. Second I
had to get real about how long it would take and what I was actually
eating.
Remember, not too many goals, you'll only get caught
in stress.
The areas you might look
at are:-
Health/ Fitness
Relationships
Work/Career
Spirituality
Creativity
Family
Romance
Success
Write down your goals on some cards. Be aware
of the words you write. Rather than 'I want to be more successful'
change the wording to 'I am successful and happy'. Shuffle them every
morning and choose one to focus on that day. Also pick one just before
you go to sleep to let your subconscious help in giving you answers
in your sleep.
Experience the Goal as Already Completed
This is a technique to accelerate the process of achieving what you
want: simply imagine your goal as already accomplished. This shortens
the time necessary to gain the results you want.
Choose a goal. Imagine what it looks like to
have this goal complete. Feel what that feels like. What are people
saying to you? What are your surroundings? What are you saying
to yourself? What does this success taste like? What is the smell
of success? How does life seem to you now?
The more sensory you imagine the result of your
successful goal being reached, the more the mind experiences it
as if it was already true.
To encourage you
The old way of thinking, that beliefs are based on experience is
challenged by Quantum Physics which states that if we belief
something then it becomes the truth. The more we operate on a
belief, then it is so. According to David Cameron "Energy
particles, the building blocks of the whole universe, 'arrange'
themselves to our thoughts.Your life is images of your mind,
expressed. You are living the life that you have imagined."
If you haven't already read it then the book
'Ask and it is given' by Esther and Gerry Hicks is invaluable.
Finally, I would encourage you to celebrate
when you achieve a goal and tell others about it. It really makes
a difference. As you can tell I'm still proud of my weight loss!
