It sets the theme for the next 3 months and this is a perfect time to recommit to goals, to manifest your heart’s desire as the gods are on your side!

I’ll be in London facilitating my workshop and we’ll do this ritual as a closing process on Sunday.

I suggest that you light tea lights in a row, and put the name of the planet next to each light.

Then take steps and repeat the affirmation for each sign as described in the audio.

Note that in London the rising sign is Virgo and Saturn is the first planet to rise above the horizon.

Saturn is the planet of commitment and is opposite the Sun, so there is tension in relationships, but the way forward is to ask for truth.

I’ve discovered that you don’t get to read these posts until the day after I post them, so I’ll give you a preview of how the sky looks at the exact time of the Spring Equinox in London.

The Sun is setting in the west and above it will be Venus which sets at approx 19.45pm. When you look skyward after dark (weather permitting)  the Moon  will be moving through the constellation of Taurus and the star group known as the Pleiades. This is the place where the Moon is said to be exalted and a very positive omen for the next three months.

We have lost our connection with the sky due to the amount of light pollution. Looking up toward the heavens is incredibly humbling, and for me has always been a source of delight and wonder.

I invite you to make time on Saturday to do this. To remember where you came from. To recognise that you are part of an amazing Universe.

As we near the end of the zodiacal year we need to choose the seeds we wish to sow for the next cycle.

The zodiac comes from the Greek words zoe (life) and diakos (wheel) and its worth remembering that the 12 signs make up a circle, a wheel of life that is ever changing.

The 12 signs represent the process of individuation, the last sign of Pisces being the return to the Source.

It’s time to reflect on how far you have come over the last astrological year and what you want to create next.  This is an opportunity to make a quantum leap to the next level in your life. The gods are blessing us all in taking this leap.

Cosmic Wheel

Our personal Cosmic Wheel is our astrological birth chart.

The 12 sectors of our chart are astrological houses. They are clearly identified by Caroline Myss in her book  Sacred Contracts: Awakening Your Divine Potential

The sectors are connected to the 12 zodiacal signs , so Aries is naturally associated with the number 1,  the ‘Ego/Personality’. Pisces is number 12 the Unconscious.

Early today the Moon moved into Aries opposite Saturn. We get a taste of the energy that we’ll have at the Spring Equinox, as the Sun will be occupying the same place.

Aries as a sign is ruled by Mars, so is impulsive and action orientated.  Mars moves quickly around the zodiac in approx. 2 years. Saturn is now in the opposite sign of Libra and says -not so fast! Saturn takes time -it’s cycle is very slow and moves around the zodiac in 28 and a half years.

So what happens when these two energies confront each other?

A fight!

As we approach the election the anger rises against the present government. Today I noticed the heated debates on the radio concerning the housing market. The person who can’t get on the housing ladder blames the government. That prices keep rising and property becomes out of reach. I truly sympathise. I was a home owner and I recall the  sense of security and resulting emotional satisfaction it brought me.

But times have changed. We will not be going back to a time of low house prices. Renting may be the only answer. It’s commonplace in other countries. The days when an “Englishman’s home is his castle” have gone.

The person was showing how we are holding on to the past. To be happy we have to let go of that picture. What picture of how your life should be have you not let go of?

Change is here

As an astrologer I can see ahead. We are going through massive times of change this summer. There is no easy solution. Facing the hard, cold reality is tough. But necessary

The only way through is acceptance. Acceptance is a powerful way that people are taught to handle pain. The Frances of Assisi prayer comes to mind. To accept what we can’t change.

Through my mailbox came this daily message which is perfect:

If you don’t meet resistance with resistance, it dissipates dramatically. It just softens. Try it! Next time somebody says to you, “I’m right, and you’re wrong,” say, “Pfftt, you’re right. You are right. You’re right.” And mean it. In other words, don’t mock them. Don’t be sarcastic. “You’re right.” And then watch how, all of a sudden, their legs almost go right out from under them. They don’t have the energy to blast you, because you just took the fuel away from the fire. From Esther and Gerry Hicks.

I saw two small children having full blown tantrums this week. Both were lying on the pavement howling away, refusing any help. Mars is active in a 2 year old’s birth chart as it’s back to where it was a birth. the tantrum is the rage at the birth process -the most dangerous journey we ever take. We have a natural instinct to express our emotions and cry! We have travelled from one world to the next, a huge transition.

We live in a time of transition, of passing into a new paradigm, a new world. It can be painful if we resist, or relatively easy if we surrender to the process.

Today is a good day to recognise what we are still holding onto, and can be using to hold ourselves back. Today is a good day to let go of our tantrum!

Today we have an electrifying new moon as it is joined by Uranus and Mercury, all in the sign of Pisces. Planets are associated with the body and Uranus is said to govern the hypothalamus in the brain.  One of the most important functions of the hypothalamus is to link the nervous system to the endocrine system via the pituitary gland.

This is the area of the brain called the neocortex – it is our consciousness and ‘seat of your soul’ .

Neptune governs the pineal (the third eye) and Jupiter the pituitary. Since Uranus is in the sign of Pisces and Neptune is in the sign of Aquarius (i.e. in each others signs ), there is a strong connection between them. We can download higher vibrations and inspiration over the next few days as the Sun joins Uranus.

This is the energy of The Magician, or Magus. Last night on TV I watched the movie  ‘The Premonition’ starring Sandra Bullock. She almost goes crazy as she experiences living in the future and knows her husband is going to die. It’s worth watching as it plays with the concept of time. And love. Desperate for help, the most important scene was when she sees her priest. He teaches her about unexplained phenomena and miracles. He tells her to put her faith and the power of her will to fight for what she believes in. She does, and she changes the future.

Today is Mothers Day and also the dark of the Moon in Pisces, so I am drawn to the archetypes of the Moon, which are so varied.

What kind of mother do you  have? Is she a comforting mother – friend, a nurturer or a dark goddess- a witch or femme fatale?

I started leading workshops way back in 2000 in partnership with Anna Ziman. They were called ‘Open to the Goddess’ and she is still running them. In them we each chose a Goddess card and went through a process to  invite in their energy.

Yesterday I asked my hairdresser friend to help me and she chose Hecate. This is a powerful archetype of the Crone or Wise Woman. She also represents the Crossroads. Listen to me reading the Hecate poem from ‘The Goddess Oracle’ by Amy Sophia Marashinsky. It totally conveys this Piscean New Moon and the process we are in as we approach The Equinox.

Choice is a powerful healing principle. However we may not be quite ready for change. Christine Bleakley ( posted 2 days ago) trained and prepared mentally before she undertook her dangerous feat.

If you are at a crossroads in your life, trust your process. Each time I have made major leaps in my life (like resigning from my 20 years career as an Art Director) was not made overnight. I prepared for it, went on a workshop, and took my time. When it came to it, it was easy as my resolve was  strong.

Today is the 4th day since I started this Countdown to the Equinox. I set it as a personal challenge -could I write each day to a deadline? I have gone on a super food juicing diet for the last 3 days and have given up alcohol. So far I have lost 4 pounds in weight and feel great!

All part of preparation for the ritual I will be leading at my workshop ‘Awaken your Soul Purpose‘ next weekend.

Saturday, a sunny day where I live and I had my hair cut and coloured at home. My hairdresser is a creative and passionate woman and I greatly enjoy her company. I am away tomorrow leading a course in London, so am typing away madly to create  2 posts, to fulfil my promise. You may well be reading this the day after I publish!

The news story of Christine Bleakley water skiing across the English Channel this morning in sub zero temperatures is a wonderful example of  someone living their Soul Purpose.

I saw her on TV last night and she was very emotional and trying hard to fight back her tears. It was obvious to me how scared she was.

This was an extraordinary feat.

Beforehand Christine (a TV presenter) had admitted to being “petrified” by the challenge as she is frightened of water, and is not a strong swimmer. She had been in training for only a relatively short time and had never water-skied before.

Her motivation was strong.

Christine was moved to undertake the challenge following a trip to Uganda with Sport Relief in 2008.

” I went to Uganda where I met Hajjara, a teenage girl carrying the weight of the world on her young shoulders,” Bleakley said. “After losing her parents to Aids, she’s been left all alone to care for her younger siblings.”

Speaking before the challenge, she said: ”It’s so easy to come home from a trip like that and forget about what you’ve seen and keep going about your everyday life. ”I didn’t want to do that. I’ll never forget the people that I met and I want to do something to help them. ”Please support me by making a donation as it really will help change lives.”

This was undoubtedly a defining moment in Christine’s life. Looking at her astrology chart shows why her, and why now.

Her Archetypes

She’s an Aquarian, with her Sun conjunct Mars. Aquarius is the archetype of The Humanitarian; Mars is the archetype of The Athlete and Warrior. This is a forceful combination – she feels inspired to do something bold, to take action to help others.

The Moon in Aries shows her soul. So she has the soul of a Pioneer and someone who takes risks. Venus is in the fire sign of  Sagittarius and Jupiter is in Leo.  Fire signs have initiative and energy. They give her enormous faith and courage of her convictions.

Why Now? As she set off the Moon in the sky was exactly at the same degree of Aquarius as her Sun. (that’s odds of 1 in 360). Venus is in Aries, so as a woman she was leading the way. Always our soul purpose is when we make others more important than ourself – we make a contribution to society.

Today’s exercise

Today I ask that you set aside 10 minutes, close your eyes and centre yourself. Allow yourself to become empty, like a flute. Sit quietly and ask:

“What are the defining moments in my life?”

These can be small incidents, but allow yourself to recall when you made a difference. When you were a star and shone, were a good friend, or even a hero. When you took emotional risks and stretched yourself way beyond your comfort zone. Make a note of these in your journal.
